THE COURSES

Otago Golf Club

Also known as Balmacewan, Otago GC is the oldest loop in the Southern Hemisphere.
A tricky parklands course with a plethora of blind tee shots, paying attention to the course map is a must if you want to score well.

Recent renovations have improved the set up of the sand traps – all 40 plus of them! Dramatic changes in elevation mean there is some serious consideration on what club to pull out of your bag. Oh, and leave the ball above the hole at your own peril, numerous two tiered greens and false fronts require you to think about where to put the ball on the green.

St Clair

The views you get of the city of Dunedin at this fantastic member’s course is historic.
St Clair Beach and the rugged southern coast where waves of the Pacific Ocean catapult into cliff faces and raw beaches stretching into the abyss displays the natural beauty of the deep south.

A parkland set up means there are trees lining either side of most fairways. A gem of a track, with greens that look simple proving to be the complete opposite. There are some scoring holes coming into the clubhouse, making for an exciting finish if your match has made it that far.

Chisholm Links

The term hidden gem can often be overused when it comes to golf courses, but a links course in the bottom of the South Island means Chisholm is a delicacy. An entertaining course a stone’s throw from the dunes of St Clair Beach, you get more than what you pay for here. The 9th tee box is just metres away from a cliff face overlooking Tomahawk Beach, with multiple holes having views of the Pacific Ocean. The greens are pure, a number of blind tee shots and the whipping wind combine to create havoc at this truly unique loop.
