THE COURSES
Kinloch
One of New Zealand's premier layouts, Kinloch, must be included in golfing itineraries. A 20-minute drive from the tourist hot-spot town of Taupō sits some of Jack Nicklaus' best work. To say it presents a challenge would be doing it a disservice. The rolling fairways around the front nine dramatically captures your imagination before the aesthetic of the back nine takes your breath away.
Nicklaus designed the bunkering to be rugged and challenging as a tribute to some of the great Scottish links. Kinloch isn't a traditional Nicklaus layout, but this doesn't change the fact that it is a big ballpark, like his others. Kinloch is a pristine track that consistently resides in the top-100 courses on the planet, with views of Lake Taupō adding to the elegance of your day out. World-class is an understatement; you simply have to play it to believe it.

Wairakei
There aren't many golf courses where you can stroll the fairways alongside deer and spot a plethora of New Zealand's famous native bird species. Potentially the first sanctuary that is a golf course in the world, Wairakei epitomises New Zealand's beauty in all facets. Playing here is a day that will stay with you; the experience is rare to say the least.
The layout poses a fair challenge, with immaculately groomed fairways weaving between hidden creeks, native trees and a complexion of sand traps. Officially known as a Sanctuary, but most regard Wairakei as paradise.
Taupō Golf Club
It may fly under the radar compared to its neighbouring layouts, but this trendy members' course punches well above its weight. Centennial is a classical parkland beauty undoubtedly worth your time. Its tree-lined fairways and slippery putting complexes challenge all players of all levels.
With a relaxed vibe and welcoming members aplenty, Taupo Golf Club welcomes visitors to come and enjoy what their facilities have to offer.
